Thanks Mark, appreciate your words. You are totally right about being early in. One of the things that stops me from sending stuff to people is when I feel like I might be late to the party (sometimes only by a couple of hours).

The example I always use is that I have some friends that I just simply know they only send "breaking news", but if I get something from my parents I can guarantee that it is months old at least.

We can't be on top of it all and we are only as good as our networks...

I really like (and appreciate!) how you've expanded on this, Douglas.

There are all kinds of motivations for sharing information, as you point out. What holds true, though, is that unless you have it/see it early, you can't pass it along with any value.

And that's what struck me about the two emails I received yesterday. While I fully recognize that my two colleagues were thinking of me when they saw the video (and I appreciate that they were), there was a "where have you been?" feeling I had when I got the emails. And I don't say that to be obnoxious, I say it because it just felt so long since I had first seen the video. That's what got me thinking about the value of being early-in.
