Forza motorsport gets the jaggies
Air Canada cancels my flight and has me stuck in the airport bar for a while. So for the first time in a while I am exposed to real live TV ads, as I usually download only the ads on youtube that I want to see.
I look up from my laptop to see an ad for Forza Motorsport (Xbox 360 driving video game), but the graphics are terrible, compression errors, stray pixels and some bad anti-aliasing (aka ‘the jaggies’) had me wondering who the heck approved this crappy game footage?
It took me a second to realize that it wasn’t the footage, but the satellite signal that was making it look so awful. I laughed out loud at this and then quickly realized that there likely wasn’t a single person in the bar that would have found it even remotely as funny as I did..
So video game marketers beware that bad signal feeds can make your gorgeous cut scenes look like a circa 80′s Intellivision ad. That last link in the media chain is a doozy.
