Beware of Stock Footage

Only in the Age of YouTube could the people from stock footage be able to speak out about how their footage is used.

I can’t stand political attack ads, but this one comes off okay in my book. I also appreciate that Obama campaign didn’t take the easy route out and make it look like the girl had just done this on her own with a web cam.

Maybe background checks for people in stock footage will have to become standard practice for political ads…

    Stay tuned for an attack ad on the little girl… “Casey Knowles signed a talent waiver, then changed her mind. What does that tell you about the integrity of Casey Knowles? Would you vote for a man whose child spokespersons can’t be trusted to honour their stock footage agreements?”

    Really liked the unintentional irony of the shots of Casey volunteering, though. Beautiful homage to the art(?) of stock photography.

    Great piece! Strength of Obama’s campaign is its focus on authenticity. Voters tend to be more forgiving of honest frailty than pundits (with the notable exception of hypocisy). How many times was Ralph Klein elected? Trudeau loved? Bill Clinton forgiven?
